Julep Review -Veronica

August 21, 2013

Julep describes Veronica as a "Modern Mauve Crème".  I was a little worried when I painted this one since indoors it looked like a baked clay.  Not at all what I expected.  When I went outside it was a very pretty dusty rose color.  I really likes this one and realized I need better lighting indoors!

August 2013 Bondi New York Subscription Box

August 15, 2013

Bondi New York is offering a new nail polish subscription box.  For the first month of August, the box was a mystery box of three polishes that are from their regular line.  Starting in September, the colors will be previewed and you can skip the month if you are not liking the colors for the month.  In addition to the three nail polishes, you will receive a deluxe beauty product (subject to availability).

For my August Box, I received Fool's, Blue Skies, and Central Park Blossom.  For the extra deluxe beauty product, I received 100% Pure eye shadow in Chestnut.  In addition, I received two sample packs.  The first one was Suki Face creamy foaming cleanser and the second was Absolution La Crème du Soir.

After all is said and done, I am very happy with this box.  I love all the colors I received.  The nail polishes retail for $12.50 each and the 100% Pure eye shadow retails for $15.00.  That makes the retail value of the box to be $52.50!

The first color I tried was Blue Skies.  It is a really pretty blue.  The formula was excellent on this polish.  It was not too thick, but not too thin.  I wore the polish for two days without any chipping.  (I only took it off to switch up the color.)

The cost for the subscription box is $19.99 for month to month, $49.97 for 3 months (save $10.00), $99.95 for 6 months (1 month free), and $199.90 for a 12 month subscription (2 months free).  If you are interested, click the link to find out more: Welcome | Bondi New York

Have a wonderful day!

Until next time,

Julep Review - Lois

August 6, 2013

Lois is from my new August Maven box.  Julep describes Lois as a "Dusty Rose Frost".  The swatches on Julep's website make it look very pink.  The color in person did not look very pink at all.  To me, it looked mostly beige with a little rose.

I did not like this formula at all.  It was very thick.  I had to use two coats and I had some problems using my top coat.  This only lasted one day on my nails...I just did not like it.

Julep Review - Tracy

July 28, 2013

Tracy is from my July Maven box.  I absolutely love, love, love this color!  This color is described by Julep as a "Sparkly Ocean Blue Sea Salt".  Sea Salt is Julep version of a textured polish.  Since it dries textured and matte, you can always apply top coat to make it shiny and smooth.  This was my first time trying a textured polish and I loved it.  I didn't think I would, but I did!  In fact I ordered some Zoya Pixie Dust polishes since I heard they are similar.  I will let you know.

I wore Tracy for two days straight.  The first day was overcast so the sparkly did not really come through outside.  The second day was sunny and my nails were so sparkly!  I received a lot of compliments inside without the sparkle.

Julep Review - Audrey

July 25, 2013

I wasn't going to do it.  I wasn't going to buy a Julep Mystery Box.  There are too many colors in my collection that I need to try, but I caved.  I went with the big summer box.  For $39.99, I received 7 nail polishes, an eyelash curler, and makeup brush.  I think I did pretty good - there was a big box that had 17 polishes in it...maybe one day.

The first of the nail polishes I tried was Audrey which is part of the "Classic with a Twist" collection.  It is described by Julep as a "Soft light pink micro-shimmer".  Like Cassie, the last polish I tried from Julep, this is very sheer.  Again, like Cassie, I really like this color in the bottle, but do not think it looks that good with my skin tone.  I think I am too pale to pull it off...maybe I need to get more sun!  Unlike Cassie, this had some glittery shimmer going on.

Julep Review - Cassie

July 12, 2013

Happy Friday Everyone!

Cassie is part of the "Classic with a Twist" collection.  It is described by Julep as a "Soft coral sheer" and it is very sheer.  I had to use three coats to get it opaque and I can still see my nail line.  The formula is not as thick as the other Julep polishes I have used.  After two days, I had a little tip wear.  I really like this color, but not with my skin tone.

Julep Review - Joanna

July 10, 2013

Julep describes Joanna as a "Lilac Frost". The color looks very silver in the bottle - That must be the frost showing through.   It is a really beautiful color and I have enjoyed wearing this one.   In fact, I got quite a few compliments on it.  I painted on two coats, but could have just done one since it was very opaque.  The formula was on the thicker side, but very easy to work with.  I had this color on for two days with no tip wear.  Joanna is part of the "Bombshell" collection.  To learn more about the different collections, look towards the bottom of this post.
